The story of old farmer Grutz, who is considered a stubborn and unsociable man due to his unfriendly nature. Meanwhile, Grutz suffers a serious injury while working in the fields and prepares for the end. But contrary to all expectations, he recovers and reconciles with his land, as well as with Hans and Christine.
